Hi Tom
Just wanted to say thank you for the 4 x 4 training course - it was the second time that I have done the course with you and this time I brought friends along.
Hope that is proof of the value of your course! There are a lot of different courses out there but I preferred the close attention given to each driver in what you offer and the confidence you instilled in what can be a frightening experience for first timers!
Kind rgds

We found Tom's course to be exceptionally good.
The duration was perfect, 09:00-13:00 is way better than giving up a full Saturday, his mature demeanour went down very well with my wife as there's nothing gung-ho and Rambo-like about his advice and instructing.
I have done 4x4 courses before but learned a lot on Tom's course and thoroughly enjoyed doing it with Mrs. Steyn.

Hi Tom,
Just like to say thank you once again for your time and effort at Hennops on Sunday. Your knowledge, friendliness and professionalism made it an enjoyable (and entertaining!!) experience.
I now know what my vehicle is capable of, which really makes me appreciate it more.
Your guidance enabled me to tackle every obstacle with confidence. At no point did I feel nervous or doubtful.
To recap on lessons learnt and please correct me where necessary:
- Always approach any obstacle in low range first gear
- Engage diff lock where there is a possibility that traction may be lost e.g. driving through dongas, driving up a steep hill
- Normal trail driving to be done in low range second gear.
- Keep vehicle as level as possible through an obstacle
I would also like a bit of advice on the following:
- In what circumstances would you drive in a gear higher than low range second i.e. 3rd, 4th or 5th (if at all)?
- Where can I get a decent and accurate tyre pressure gauge?
- Do you have an opinion on the best all terrain tyres, BF Goodrich, Cooper, Bridgestone?
By the way, I contacted Toyota regarding a set of side bars/rock sliders. They quoted R4060-00 including fitting. Think I need to shop around a bit more!!
On behalf of Annelie and myself, thanks for an awesome day.
Take care and best regards,
Richard
